  • One of my favorite lines of Tim Russert's came when he was questioned about his political involvement with two Democrats prior to working for NBC. His response: "My views don't matter." He's one of the few broadcasters I'd call a journalist.

  • Ann, in my conversations with the folks at Wichita State, it seemed that the Sunflower staff was caught a little off guard by all of this. While every year comes with a handful of readers upset about content, this year's complaints were not necessarily louder or more numerous.

  • I don't think they can have it both ways. When people sign up for reality shows, they are doing it for attention (American Idol) or greed (Moment of Truth). The public gets to decide how much it wants to know about the individuals.

  • Great thoughts and compelling tips, but a tad naive. I recall the beheading of an American being captured on video and posted on the Internet. Every single news organization stayed clear from airing it (and rightfully so), yet web sites that host the video garner hundreds of thousands of visits.

  • Chum -- I couldn't agree more. There is very little profit on the web so far for the journalism industry. I hope that will change, but we'll have to wait and see.
